How Do You Shower by Yourself After Shoulder Surgery?

How do you shower by yourself after shoulder surgery? You can easily shower after shoulder surgery.

For 99% of the procedures you perform, we’re okay with you actively lifting and moving your arm around. You can wash your hair and body, but you won’t damage the surgery by doing that.

The one thing is reaching all the way across to wash under your other armpit. So you can grab a little stick sponge to go across there if that’s what you need to do. Other than that, that’s the only thing. People have trouble with that before surgery, by the way.

So you shower by yourself without much difficulty, just like you showered before the surgery. We have all our patients do that, and it’s a huge relief when we tell them it will not be an issue.
