How Do You Use The Toilet After Shoulder Surgery?

How Do You Use The Toilet After Shoulder Surgery?

The common question is, how do I use the toilet after shoulder surgery? The answer is exactly like you used it before.

You’re not going to damage or anything by reaching behind your back. In that way, you may be a little bit sore. It may be difficult. If that’s the case, you can come from the front. That’s what some patients do or use your other hand.

You know, I shave my face and brush my teeth every morning with my left hand because I’m a surgeon and I want both hands to be ambidextrous. I’ve done that for years. But you can use the other hand, come from the front, or just do it like you normally do.

You may be sore, but we won’t stop you and will not say, “Don’t do that. Otherwise, you’re going to injure what we did or you’re going to tear or break or mess up the surgery.” You’re not going to in any way.

So, in general, you can do it just as you did before or modify it in whatever way you want from a comfort standpoint.
